Pope Francis in the Holy Land

Per EWTN:

Pope Francis will travel to the Holy Land May 24-26. It’s only a three-day trip, but it is packed not only with events, but significance! One of trip’s primary purposes is to advance ecumenical relations between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church. That’s why it is taking place on the 50th anniversary of an historic visit between Pope Paul VI and Patriarch Athenagoras. However, the Pontiff will also meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders, and with religious leaders from the Catholic, Jewish, Orthodox & Muslim communities as well as with refugees and young people with disabilities. The motto for this trip is “Ut unum sint,” which means “That they may be one.”

During the trip, one of the stops is in the upper room where The Last Supper took place!

Pope Francis’ homily during Mass in the Upper Room

Per Wikipedia:

The Cenacle (from Latin cenaculum), also known as the “Upper Room”, is a room in Jerusalem traditionally held to be the site of The Last Supper.

Thus the Cenacle is considered the site where many other events described in the New Testament took place, such as:

  • the Washing of the Feet
  • some resurrection appearances of Jesus
  • the gathering of the disciples after the Ascension of Jesus
  • the election of Saint Matthias as apostle
  • the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples on the day of Pentecost

Since at least the fourth century AD a structure identified as the Cenacle, the site of the Last Supper, has been a popular Christian pilgrimage site on Mount Zion in Jerusalem.

There are many websites dedicated to the event. Here is one of them that lists all the speeches and homilies given, including one in Bethlehem:
